Understanding ESL Phonics

ESL teachers are expected to have lesson plans to supplement the experience, competency and training they have so as to assist their learners to achieve their learning objectives both in the long-term and daily. With a lesson plan, a teacher can comfortably know how the lesson will be and also estimate the level with which the students will understand the lesson concepts and contents. With ample research, success can be foreseen in any business or even in an athletic competition.

ESL plan is requirement that cannot be overemphasized. With the ESL lesson plans teachers are able to anticipate the correct strategies and anticipate the mood of the student. If there is no proper presentation then a teacher who goes to class only negatively affects the students as well as himself.

Cases of underperformance will be reported if teachers do not prepare properly by the students, superiors and peers.

If the recommended teaching resources are provided by the students and education providers, any class that is not properly managed it is a waste money, time and effort. Students and teachers who are not well coordinated for learning then students will not be motivated to learn and will not improve. But if there is a lesson plan in place and used effectively daily reflects reliability and professionalism.

Depending on how a teacher knows his/her students they can apply these lesson plans for ESL learning. They are PPP (Presentation, Practice and Production), TTT (Test, Teach and Test) and TBA(Task Based Approach).

Most ESL educators prefer the PPP presentation, practice and production type of teaching.

Teacher-centric and student-centric presentation are facilitated with PPP where students participate in the learning and understanding the new language concepts. During presentation the teacher takes much time explaining the concepts of the language.

The recitation conversations are graded hence the students are expected to participate. 60 to 70 percent is the student participation leaving the teacher with only a moderator role.

Finally, domination by the students should be 90 percent on the creation phase. Teachers are expected to give feedback at the end of the lesson after monitoring the student progress during the lesson. At this stage, the students are expected to be very comfortable with the concepts of the new language and can fluently and accurately communicate with it. Depending on the student response, teachers are encouraged to try out the online materials available since the promoters are also available to help them.
It is good to try out the various ESL learning plans and teachers are also encouraged to even modify, combine and optimize them where possible. A designed lesson plan is flexible and preferred as compared to the dogmatic inflexibility.
